“Browse to Save” Adware Removal

“Browse to Save” is an adware which attacks internet browsers. It finds the default browser of the computer and hijacks it. After “Browse to Save” infiltrates the system it will present all kinds of advertisements, pop-ups and coupons during internet browsing, which will be promoting all sorts of products and services. As a result, internet browsing becomes an annoying task.

“Browse to Save” promotes the material by displaying underlined keywords in webpages’ text or presenting the user with boxed notifications. Manual “Browse to Save” Removal

Important Note: “Browse to Save” can be removed manually, however any mistakes can lead your PC to permanent damage of the system. Therefore a manual removal process is highly recommended for IT experts and system administrators. Google Chrome

1. Fix Google Chrome startup pages.

Click on 3-bars icon and choose Settings. In On startup click Set pages and remove “Browse to Save” by clicking X symbol. After that, add your desired homepage.

2. Remove “Browse to Save” from the homepage settings.

Click on 3-bars icon and choose Settings. In Appearance section click on Change. Remove the malicious homepage by clicking X symbol. Then you can add the desired homepage by entering its URL and hitting OK.

3. Remove “Browse to Save” from the search engine list and set a one.

Click on 3-bars icon and choose Settings. In Search section click on Manage search engines.. button. Choose the legitimate default search engine as default by clicking Make default. Then remove the malicious search engine from the list.

4. Remove add-ons that are associated with malware

Click on 3-bars icon and choose Tools. Go to Extensions and delete all add-ons related to “Browse to Save” from the list.

Internet Explorer

1. Remove “Browse to Save” from homepage settings.

Click on Tools icon and choose Internet Options. In General tab replace the hijacked homepage with a desired URL like www.google.com. Then click Apply to complete the action.

2. Modify default search provider settings, also remove the malicious search provider.

Click on Tools icon and choose Manage Add-ons. In Search Providers section please choose to set a legitimate search provider as default by clicking Set as default button. Then remove the malicious search provider from the list.

Mozilla Firefox

1. Remove “Browse to Save” from homepage settings.

Go to Options > General tab. Replace the malicious homepage with a preferred URL and click OK.

2. Perform “about:config” function to revert Firefox changed items.

Type about:config into the address bar and press Enter. Then accept the warning.

Search for Mixi.DJ in the search field. Then right-click on each founded item and select Reset.

3. Remove “Browse to Save” from the search engines list.

Click on the current search engine icon and choose Manage Search Engines.. Select the malicious URL and click Remove, then hit OK to complete the action.

Delete malicious apps and directories

Review your Add/Remove Programs list in Control Panel (Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs). In the list search for apps related to “Browse to Save”. Then choose ‘Uninstall’.

Search for and delete any folder related to “Browse to Save” if found in the following directories:

  • %ProgramFiles%
  • %AppData%
  • %ProgramData%
  • %LocalAppData%
